The Dope
...
older dope... Jennifer will be reading the master letters of Emily Dicksinson tonight (December 10th) at the Bowery Poetry Club (308 Bowery) as part of a benefit for the Lower East Side Girl's Club. Happy Birthday Emily (December 10, 1830)! JC on WFMU! Wed. Nov. 25th at 4:00pm on Irwin Chusid's show! NY musician Jennifer Charles, of indie cult band Elysian Fields, has forged a career perhaps best described as a slow burn. Whether singing, writing, or producing, she has appeared on over forty records, sung and recorded in over eight languages, and worked with a wide-ranging melange of names in music. From long time collaborator Oren Bloedow, to conspirators as far-flung as Jim "Foetus" Thirlwell, Ed Pastorini, John Zorn, Jean-Louis Murat, DJ Logic, Mike Patton, Dan the Automator, Miho Hatori, Michael Gordon, Frank London, Firewater, The Chrome Cranks, and Chris Vrenna of Nine Inch Nails, among others. For this special show, she will be playing some Elysian Fields rarities and B sides, some La Mar Enfortuna, the EF Sephardic side project, along with little known tracks with some of the above said artists. Plus songs from E.F.'s latest work "The Afterlife", two days before their record release show Friday the 27th at Joe's Pub. Official US Record Release for The Afterlife November 27th, 2009 at Joe's Pub in NYC. 11pm. Available on VInyl as well as through iTunes, Amazon and such. Click here to purchase tickets for the show. Two new European dates on the tours page and a full online shop is now on the site here, with t-shirts and CDs from both Elysian Fields and La Mar Enfortuna.
